Simply Irresistible

Yesterday I spent a very fun afternoon at my hairdressers', with Kylie, learning how to use my new hair extensions from Irresistible Me.

They are based in the Fashion District in New York and it is a growing brand of 100% natural Remy clip-in hair extensions, hair accessories and hair tools.

I have never accepted a 'PR Sample' before and was a little wary as it was so out of keeping with my blog.

But when Blair contacted me and very kindly offered me the chance to try, I thought it would be great fun and it was an item that I would have never considered buying.
I could choose any hair - colour, weight and length being your main choices. I chose the 20" length, 200g weight in the colour Royal Ash Blonde. These would cost $231, but extension prices start at $63.

For a really good way of checking colour choices there is a video, which shows side-by-side colour comparisons; cool and warm tones, which is really helpful if you are a novice like me!

They were posted from China and arrived in super-quick time, less than a week!

They are packaged in a super-cute box; inside there is a 2-sectioned bag, one side of which is sealed. The unsealed side has a sample hair weft for you to try against your own hair as a colour-swatch. If you do not break the seal and decide they are not for you, then they can be returned and your money refunded.

Not having tried anything like this before I felt the product was of that good quality that it deserved me paying my hairdresser to teach me how to use them and do an easy boho-style, everyday 'do'.

It was definitely money well spent as I think you'll agree from the pictures!!
Oh my, when it was finished, wow, I felt so good!
When styled they match in with my hair brilliantly.

I was very pleasantly surprised, they are really comfy, especially when you think how much hair I had clipped in!

Pink Perfection

About a couple of years ago, I planted some gladioli bulbs.

Lots of leaves and no flowers.

Until this year.
Just one perfect pink stem.

It has made me so happy with all its' exuberant blousiness.
Enjoy!

Veg-ing Out

I want choice. In everything. Is that bad?
Each year I think 'next year I'll grow more of just one or two things' rather than a little bit of lots of things.

But one perfect meal with my home grown peas, carrots, courgettes, French beans and spuds is just so wonderful, I think I may just carry on as usual!
Pidge is still waiting on the runners. Can you spot him?
Everything is grown in pots and I do try to cram in more than I ought. Plus I really can't bear thinning out and throwing away, even into the compost bin. Which means that this year I have about 8 bush tomato plants and I don't even like tomatoes! But Mr B does and I'm sure they will all find homes or at least be made into sauces and frozen.

My 'stars' this year have been Casablanca potatoes, which I think taste even better than the International Kidney, (aka Jersey Royal), that I also have. Grown in potato sacks, not a giant crop but enough for a few meals. Also the round courgettes, that I call Tondo Rondo, which are Courgette Tondo di Piacenza. I slice ours and cook them on a griddle pan, but if you are in to rice and cheesey sauces, I think you could make some fabulous vegetarian meals with these.

Do you GYO? Any tips or faves to recommend?

Who's Irresistible?

Well, that'll be me then, with my new hair extensions in!

I have been very kindly offered a chance to try 'IrresistibleMe' hair extensions.

They arrived this morning, a superfast delivery from China, only ordered on Friday, and it was a much welcome surprise.

In the box you get a sample piece which is what I have used here. Even in my sleepy, anti-biotic induced haze, I could easily clip in the piece and twirled it up so Mr B could get a photo.

There is a myriad of colour in my hair, so I chose a colour that I thought matched my natural-ish hair colour. In the top picture, (of me), it is quite clear where the extension is, but once swirled in with my hair, I think it blends in brilliantly.

There are quite a few Youtube vids, but this one is great in that it shows you the hair colours next to one another, so you can tell the difference in shades. I can't wait to watch a few to get some great styling tips!

Having not got to Festival of Quilts, due to amongst other things, tonsillitis(!), I have been feeling a bit rough.
So, these pictures are just a teaser for a proper, in-depth review, when I feel a bit more up-to-it!

For Dee Dee*

*because she asked!

My finally finished cross-stitch. It is about real size on my laptop screen.

I started this so long ago that, when I found another kit with a different initial, in a sale, I tracked down a postcard of the letter 'J' and intended to do one for my mum.
She passed away nine years ago!
 Ooops!
Maybe I'll do it for Mr B, now I'm almost on a roll.

This is the next kit I have started.
Wish me luck!!
When I started the 'Zed' I could see to do it without glasses. Now I need glasses and a magnifying glass!

We are off to Festival of Quilts at the NEC tomorrow.

Excited? Oh yeah!
