Yeah, well...those who follow me on Facebook know I never made it to France.
Hey-ho!
But I have planted up a small trough with French lavender.
I had a crafty week, making use of the hot weather to wash all my new fabrics ready to cut and sew.
(Just need to make a space to lay it all out and cut it out!!).

I've just about finished my embroidery that I started years ago and took up again when I spent the week on the boat in Oxford. Mind you, even that was years ago now, too!
We also were given cake!
Oh my, and what cake it was too! Our new Polish neighbours were celebrating their daughters' first birthday and Grandma made this beautiful cake. Multiple layers, fresh fruits, cream and chocolate chips.
The clematis in the front garden is a joy.
I also managed to actually pick 3 peony blossoms this year. I don't tend to grow a lot of flowers, but at the moment I have little vases with cornflowers, sweet William, pinks, marigolds and sweet peas in. Not very many but enough to make me go "Wheeee", especially as this year, all my early Sarah Raven-inspired sweet pea seed planting only gave me 2 plants!
Meh!
But for the first time my cornflowers have come to fruition and I am so chuffed.
Will do my best to pop over to your blogs to say hello, but would just like to say a big
"Thank you"
to all of you who have supported me and been so kind with your words. It really is a huge boost when I am feeling 'bleurgh'.

Lovely plant pics, and that cake looks amazing! I'm pleased you had a productive week, even if it wasn't en France. xxx
ReplyDeleteHad a brilliant week! I found it too hot for me even over here; so how I'd have coped in 35+ degrees, I dread to think!
DeleteAnd as for missing the brocantes, well, I have acquired a brilliant cat tea pot from What Katy Did and there is one of Trevor's Jumbles on Saturday. So I'm good!

Who needs to go to France when you have a trough full of French lavender? Your garden looks lovely and I can smell your honeysuckle from here. With a garden like that you don't need to go anywhere. Just sit in the sun with a cuppa tea and cake scrounged off the neighbours. Perfick. xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm never sure whether the honeysuckle smells like a tarts boudoir or not? I do love the scent tho', and mixed with Philadephus, (mock orange)...wow! Knocks your socks off some nights.

I don't really grow flowers either, I'm mostly about edibles!!! Well done on your crafty week! Mmmmm to cake though I'm.not keen on fruit and choc or dairy mixed!!!Xx
ReplyDeleteOh, France, so long ago it was like it didn't happen! (ha ha). Panic, anxiety and asthma was what happened.
DeleteI do like to pick an edible from the garden, nothing beats it, does it?
So that slice was your idea of 'cake hell' then? !!!!!

The plants are gorgeous and the cake looks very tasty! Sorry you never got to France. xxx
ReplyDeleteI've taken so long in replying that those flowers have faded and dropped off!
DeleteYeah, it was a shame about France, but I have taken all the positives from the process, of which there are loads, and will just pick a crafty thing in the UK next time!!

ReplyDeleteI had a brilliant week, thank you!
DeleteThere are always stories about the bee population being depleted - goodness, not in our little patch! Maybe I have everybody elses!
I am so chuffed with the cornflowers, never had any success before. I've not managed to get a good photo yet, they're just in an old plastic jardinaire, so not very inspiring, but very pretty! I am really enjoying your gardening blog and all your posts on Facebook. Keep up the good work!
