Overtheshoulderboulderholders

aka bras!
Me 'n' Caroline, from Putting Your Life In Order went on a little road trip on Monday.
A la Thelma and Louise as Mr B said.

With the wind in our hair air-con on in her husbands' hybrid car, we drove off to Desborough, where there is a factory outlet for wacoal-eveden whose ranges include Fantasie, Freya and Elomi.

Think lingerie (and swimwear), think glamour.
umm, the shop
Do not be alarmed! Inside you are greeted by these two lovely ladies and a collection of stock that will take your breath away.

Marie and Louise
Marie got the short straw, me, to look after and she was fabulous, not only managing to get me into a 38 size bra(!), but explaining her choices with regard to the way each bra was constructed.

Fantasie make several styles of bra with a sort of crescent shaped piece on the outer side of the cup, so the lower part of the cup is made of 3 sections as opposed to 2, which makes it much better support for a larger cup size.
Even if you aren't buying a bra from them, check out their shape fitting guide here.
Lots of top tips if you are looking to buy a new bra.
the offices
I did end up going up a size, (though still a smaller back size than I thought...but bigger cups), in as much as I wouldn't have Marie at home to help me get dressed in the morning(!) and probably would've struggled to do it up easily. I got 'Susanna' in teal and 'Elodie' in purple.

But I know what I have chosen fits properly and gives me a better outline underclothing. Again, another top tip, try your clothes on over a bra in the changing room; you'll be amazed at the difference a good fitting bra gives.

Thank you gurrlfriend, for taking me out on such a fun trip!

    1. It's been such a manic week that the bras are just sitting on the shelves in the bedroom. Still! He thought they looked nice tho'.
It was really good fun and such a treat for me to see all the beautiful countryside too. Northants rocks!

  2. Always good to get a proper fitting done. I like Freya and Fantasie bras, they fit me well, but I only ever buy them heavily discounted!
PS. Good to see you on FB! xxx

    1. Do you have secret info on big discounts? It is well worth a butchers at the outlet website; Simply Be are selling them in their sale at 33 quid. I got mine for 19! Good eh?

  3. I've not had a proper bra fitting for a few months and I have no idea what size I am. I seem to change every time I look at myself in the mirror, although I'm sure that can't actually be true.

  4. Your shape/size can change with your monthly cycle.
But remember the sizing is only a guide: different styles and fabrics even within the same company can differ wildly. Still, it's worth getting done every 6 months or so.

  5. I wish I had your 38 size, hehe!
I can't remember the last time I had a bra fitted. The few that I've been to in the past each said I was a different size and not one of them felt right.

    1. Yeah, but a double F cup. Eek! ffs, quite literally!
Just try on loads, as there is no standard sizing across the board. Goodness, I had about in the fitting room at one point! Take the size they give you and play around a bit...up a cup size and down a back size, like me, or the other way, bigger back size, (your 'body circumference') and a smaller cup.
We are supposed to put the straps on, 'drop' our boobs into the cups and then do it up. I can't do that so I just stick with my tried and tested method, that's why I went for the bigger size!
Oh, I remember, in the dim distant past, when I was a 34B. Seemed to be that size forever!! So, be careful what you wish for!
