Nice Legs, Shame About The Boat Race

The last time I left the house; at the Vintage Jumble, on the 10th January!

Do take the time to watch/listen to the following little ditty.
Well...it makes me laugh!

Vintage Deccies

The angel was probably the first decoration I bought for my own tree, that my dad made for me, in my bedroom.
Nearly 50 years old!

These baubles were one of the first things we bought on our first meeting of the wonderful Bryony who does our local vintage fairs. We met her on the steps of the hotel, where the fair was be held in Market Harborough, eating chips.
A lady after our own hearts and, she has found, over the years and fairs, a place in our hearts.

The other item we bought was a vintage meat safe.
Still, kept the baubles safe on the bus journey home!!

We bought these other vintage beauties from her as well.

She keeps a stall at Kibworth Antiques.
Hurrah for Bryony!

Bobbin' Robin

Not some of my best photography/movie skills here, it has to be said!
(You might need a magnifying glass!)

But I just had to get a shot of my cheeky robin friend having a good old splash in the fountain.

I just had my phone with me and if I'd moved to get my camera he'd have been off like a shot.
*****
It seemed like a heck of a palaver to get to the fair and it was hot; too hot to do a long walk from the bus drop off point to the actual place where the fair was, so I had a lovely day pottering about in the garden.
Much better way to spend my time; but the pictures of the fair that have appeared on fb do look jolly. But I don't regret not going!

And another scorcher of a day tomorrow.
More mud pies then!

#BEDM "Day in the Life - take a photo every hour on the hour" 7pm

Trying to sort out how to get to this...

Think it is going to take longer to walk to Nene Court from Wellingborough town centre than the bus journey from Northampton to Wellingborough!

Plus I need to get from my house to Northampton Bus Station.

Maybe it'll be a day in the garden then!

Let Me Brooch The Subject

I cannot believe my luck!
I saw this brooch on the fb page for the fair I went to today, I didn't get there until about an hour before it closed and the first stall I looked at there it was.

metal, 1950's totally fab and about twice the size I thought it would be
New setting, new stalls to me.

It wasn't very busy while I was there, so I guess I missed the rush!

From the same lady, but apparently a decade older, from the 60's. Metal again; I have no idea of what they are or whether they are the same make or whatever, I just think they are beautiful and think they will get lots of wear and are timeless.

There was supposed to be a 'Vintage Tea Party', no idea where and after waiting 10 minutes to get a coffee at this part of the bar, I had had enough and left!

I found it all rather bleak and not particularly friendly; if you were 'one of the gang' it seemed to be one big jolly with many of the stallholders quaffing wine and chatting to one another. All very well if they all buy from one another, but there were a couple of coats that I tried on and put back and some shoes that caught my eye. If the stallholders had had an interest in the fact I was there and actually given me a 'nudge', I may've bought them all, but I really didn't feel the joy, and didn't feel I would regret not buying them.
And I don't!
surely I don't look that offensive to a stallholder?
So, I trundled off on a bus jaunt and ended up at Waitrose and had a toasted t-cake and my freebie coffee; much better idea!

Victoria, (Florence and Mary), recently did a post on what to spend those pesky Boots vouchers on, you know, you buy something and use it and then they give you another one! She'd tried and recommended the Boots No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation and I gave it a go today. This was taken after my afternoon out and I think you can say it did a very good job! My shade is Cool Beige.
Will do a post on my Boots haul this week (oh, yes, there's more!).
Hope you are all having a great weekend!

New Vintage On My Doorstep

A new experience for me; Lou Lou's Vintage Fair, held in my hometown in the most amazing building, The Guildhall.

This must be the most exuberant setting that I can think of. Isn't it stunning?

Lights and tiles

A tearoom too!
coffee and walnut cake
carrot cake

Mr B chose blueberry and vanilla
Phew! So much to look at and then cake too! Totes knackered.
Am now the owner of a black velvet 'drape' coat and furry aqua blue beret!

Below is a list of the various stopping off points of this happy band. Even if you only have to two quid entrance fee, pay it, and enjoy the most amazing collection of vintage clothing and accessories you could imagine! Think of it as an amazing travelling clothing museum and if you spot something you really fall in love with, you have the opportunity to buy it and take it home with you!

Have a great weekend. I'm off to catch some zzzz's.

Ditsy Belle #24 - Item

I believe they have stopped doing the 'Golly' brooches now because they are deemed un-PC.

But as a child I dutifully collected the tokens off the Robertson's marmalade jars and after a nail-biting session of choosing which design I wanted, sent off my 6d or whatever and eagerly awaited the postman's delivery.

I didn't get many and probably my favourite is my Lemon Shred one with 2 lemons, but I have never seen this one, ever.
(And me being such a plane lover, I'm sure I would've spotted one)

So, hurrah for the Vintage Fair and the lovely lady and her young daughter from the 'Oh my - it's VINTAGE!' stall.
