BEDM - Day 10 "Wishlist"

Rene's wish list is...

a room that we can't go in, but she can

rotisserie chicken at any given moment

a nice comfy bed with duvets, throws and cushions that she doesn't have to share with us
(even tho' she gets our bed to herself for most of the day!)

I couldn't really decide on a list for me; but that was then and, as I am behind with this post, and this is now, well...

Having had smoke and a vile smell coming from my washing machine this morning, I am putting that in very big letters at the top of my list!

Thinking about this Hotpoint washer/dryer.
Never owned a washer/dryer, well, never actually had a tumble dryer. Used them in work, but do think they can wear out your clothes much quicker, but, I live in the UK and we do have a lot of wet weather!
Anyone got any views, news or reviews?

BEDM - Day 8 "A Day In The Life"

Woke up!
Always a good start!

Bed with a view - wardrobes, window, make-up drawers and a Rene cat.

Not the news I had hoped for, for my town. This is the man that OK'd the brand new Bus Station that cannot cope with all the buses which means people have to stand out on the road in all weathers to catch their bus. Also the new Rail Station with lots of nasty, steep, concrete steps at its' entrance and a single lift. Not exactly good disabled access for the 21st century.
Loathsome dollop.

BBC iPlayer link
Watched a little bit of this BBC4 programme and can't wait to see it all. Two hours of real-time footage on a canal boat travelling on the Kennet and Avon Canal; so no doubt some stunning scenery and views of Bath to come. Lovely.

Jigzone link
This could also be under the guilty pleasure banner. My daily fix of Jigzone. A different picture every day and a choice of how may pieces, so good for all ages. I tend to go for 184 which takes me a little less than 15 minutes. A nice little break with a cup of coffee.

The whole afternoon was spent pricking out and potting on seedlings. I did it in the kitchen, nipping in and out between showers. This wet weather has brought out loads of slugs, nasty little bu**ers! I thought birds ate the yucky things, but for all our menagerie of birdies, they don't seem to be doing a very good job.

The robins fledged a couple of days ago. Sadly we found one that didn't make it under the bench. We think it was the 'interloper' cat that we had just chased out of the garden. But 2 out of 3 is good. We also found an adult blue tit the other day, which was sad, but there seems to be much to-ing and fro-ing to the hole in the wall above loo window, so hopefully that family will fly off safely when the time comes. Don't know quite what happened to the blackbirds' nest in the honeysuckle. There was a couple of babies and the next time I looked the nest just seemed to have fallen apart! But, again, they seem to be keeping close to 'home'.

They didn't half work hard to bring up their little ones
It's about 7:30, Corrie is about to come on and I'm waiting for Mr B to come home from work. He's bringing in dinner from M&S...fish, chips and peas, so that won't take long to cook. Or eat. We'll plonk ourselves down for the ballet portion of BBC Young Dancer of the Year at 8. We know 2 of the 3 judges, Kenny and Dominic, so that'll be a bit of a giggle. The dancers have been fabulous to watch. Last week was the Asian section and they were fantastic.

A bit of TV news at 10. We still don't know how our local elections went. Northampton had a power cut just as they had started doing the counting, so they were going to start again at 6:30. Let's hope they do a better job than the last lot, even if it's the same party, as he is now our MP. And they wonder why our town never gets 'City Status'.

Roll on Saturday and the weekend!
Have a good one!

BEDM - Day 5 "Cinco de Mayo"

Rene in a sombrero
I'm afraid to say all things 'Mexicana' really don't come into my sightline! We enjoy Chiquitos when we're in Salford, but I tend to eat steak, nothing spicy.

Oh, and cocktails, of course!

This next picture was taken when we lived in Southsea, when we would visit the Southsea Show held on the common.
They had a most wonderful Floral Tent, our very own 'Southsea Chelsea' so to speak.
There were all sorts of displays - these cacti, sweet peas, (my fave), professional growers, WI groups, kiddies mini gardens, (I loved doing those at school).
 And a tea room!

My Little Tabba Cat

We bade a sad farewell to our mamma cat this morning.

She was 20 years old and we had her for 16 of those.

Lucky us!

I am probably going to take a blogging break for a few months.
My mental health has been a bit all over the place this year, and we were both taken ill while away in Salford a fortnight ago and now with Tabby passing away everything is just too much.

If it all comes together I have exciting plans for the end of June, which I am looking forward to blogging about.

See you then, if not before!

"Madonna" & "Child"

When Mr B comments on how good it is that I went out in the back garden the other day, you know things aren't as good as they could be!!

A Grin Without A Cat

 Oh, hurrah!
still smiling
Managed to bite down so hard on my bite guard on Saturday night that I broke a piece off it! Which then entailed another visit to the dentist.
The original one was made by the Max-Fac dept at the hospital; but having phoned them they said to contact my own dentist.
I have no idea what flavour the crisps were...other than disgusting!

It was so much more fun going with Mr B.

 Lunch at the Park Café.
He had plum tomato and basil soup...in a warm French bread roll and I had a Coronation chicken sarnie. Yummy!

Mr B photographed this little beauty.

She was buzzing around the pond where we see the 2 cats.
Only one this time...Marmite went into a rescue place as she was pregnant; after 24 hours labour she had 6 kittens, which sadly all died.
(Yes, I cried!).
'Cat' as he seems to be called, (who's not the father, as he's been 'done'), was rehomed to a house a couple of roads away; then escaped and made his way back to the park!! But there is someone lined up to take him when the office closes in September, who comes in at 7am every morning to feed him a sachet, just to build up some rapport, so hopefully that'll work out fine. And I am so pleased to report that his mange has practically cleared up and his legs are much better too. Didn't get a photo yesterday, as he got all comfy on my lap and then he shot off when he heard the office door being unlocked, which equalled FOOD!

'Cat' on the left, Marmite on my lap

I do love a dental visit

And we get the chance to go back again next week to collect my new guard.
Oh, hurrah!
 (yippee)

Toothgate

Not sneering...just a numb mouth

Had my infected tooth out yesterday.
Ouch!
3 roots no kidding. Ouch!
And 200+ quid down the drain on root canal treatment with it.
That hurts almost as much as the tooth!

Two lots of antibiotic have played absolute havoc with my insides which the GP said could take up to six weeks to settle down.
She also suggested that I try those live bacteria yogurt thingies. When I nearly vomited down the phone she said they were also available as a tablet. So I 'treated' myself to a pack of "Biotic Balance Ultimate Flora" by Bioglan from Boots.
Not sure what it is doing but thank goodness my insides seem to be doing well much quicker than I could ever hope for.
Do you take any form of 'live bacteria' daily?
Any thoughts?
nice stool
Mind you, still waiting for results of a stool sample (gulp).

Thank goodness this fur baby's fur is much better
Anyway, our two little adopted fur babies were in the park. Hurrah!
No, Vix, it isn't Polly Piglet, but Marmite. The woman who owns her, (yes, she does have an owner!), likes her, her husband doesn't.
The same woman has 'adopted' the other one which she said was a stray, but she doesn't feed her??
(No, I don't understand either)
Who's this Polly Piglet I keep hearing about?
Thank goodness for the lovely lady who opens the Box Office in the park; we had a great natter with her. It was her who told us about their 'home'; she had brought in food for them, as did we.

Yes, we took a box of cat kibbles to the dentist. Are we mad??

Fur & Feather & Tooth

Pinned down by the 'Park 2'; never seen them before, apparently, neither had the Park Ranger!
What is it about mummy's lap?
But he was a bit concerned for 'his' ducks!

A visit to this park can only mean one thing...another visit to the dentist. Pain in the palate and the tooth that had root canal work done 2 years ago!
Aaargh!

Seems there is an infection, (huzzah for antibiotics), and apparently I will have to have the whole thing drilled out, packed to clear any other 'yucky stuff' and then have to go to Wellingborough to see a 'specialist' who has the know how and equipment to see what's going on in high definition, so to speak. (About 15 times actual size). The 3(!) roots I have in this tooth have weeny little branches, almost invisible on a regular X-ray and this is where the infection is.

To say I am a bit apprehensive is a slight understatement. Not so much the work itself but the fact I have to Wellingborough, (never been), and a different dental surgery. But what is weird, is that the dentist was the original chap I saw here in Northampton, who has gone on to specialise. I went to him as he did call outs and when my mum was housebound he came to see her. At the time, I wasn't registered with a dentist, so it seemed a good move to go with him. I only saw him about once before he left and have been with Mr Q ever since.

I am beginning to think I should have a dental chair with my name on a brass plaque on, like at the theatre, I feel as though I have taken 'root' there!
Boom! Boom!

Renes' Requisite Reading

A spanking brand new book with all the Vivienne Westwood i-d magazine interviews and pictures. Bought from TK Maxx for Mr B but commandeered by Rene! Cheeky!

Although there are some fabulous frocks in there, she still stands by the fact that she has one, beautiful, fur coat.
(And a rather nifty Chrimbo pressie collar, colour-co-ordinated, no less!)

She pestered me no end to buy the Hello Kitty magazine when it first came out.

But even a Vintage-loving kitty needs a nap.
All this reading can be very tiring!

Sunday, 22 September 2013

Mr B had to scoot off to work early this morning; before breakfast had officially 'opened', but managed to get an orange juice and a couple of croissants.

Cue a couple of hours later and I got myself down to breakkie. Hurrah! The waffle machine was working again! (It wasn't yesterday and broke the last time we stayed here too!)

I'd been on the look-out for this Real Techniques fine liner brush for a while; they didn't stock it in my local Boots. Found it in the big Boots up here yesterday. There was a 'buy one get one 1/2 price' offer on, so I also bought the new, just out, miracle complexion sponge too. It was the last one left on the rack. Not tried these shaped sponges before...am intrigued as to how well they work. Anyone tried them?

Mr B brought back their duo fibre brushes from Ulta, in the USA, before they were released here in the UK. I haven't used them much as I've been wearing mainly mineral powder base since he got them and I don't find them to my liking for that. Now we are moving towards colder weather, I shall be trying them out with liquid foundations and hope they are better with that.
I think if you are younger and only need lighter coverage of any type of foundation, you will find them really nice to use, but I need something a bit more heavy duty!
Some people have mentioned that the eye brush is scratchy, but I haven't noticed that with mine.

They do an amazing Sunday Lunch deal at the Mal, but, only fancying a sarnie, I popped down to the restaurant to see if it was possible. Did I want it in the room? After getting a bit freaked out at breakfast because it was so busy, I opted for room service and this is what was delivered!

Not quite a sandwich, but so totally wonderful, all the same. It just isn't the same doing a small joint of roast beef for two as having a couple of slices off a huge joint.
And, of course, eating in the room meant 2 little kitties managed to share the yumminess too!
X xx

Wicker Wednesday 6

One thing I should think Alan Whicker would never do would be to run late!

But, in my mind, technically at least, I haven't yet gone to bed, so it is still Wednesday!

Wicker Wednesday 5

Rene enjoying our Indian Summer weather.
