BEDM - Day 3 "Self Care Sunday"

Having woken up this morning with yesterdays' make-up still on, well, I'd guess I'd suggest taking off your make-up before going to bed as a good step to looking after ones-self!

 

To be fair though, most of it was Laura Gellar stuff which is a mineral make-up and therefore not too awful to have left on.

 



 

A gentle walk through the park to Aldi was up-lifting for the soul and spirit as we were in the sunshine and missed all the rain.

 

I have a stash of daily meds to take to keep me 'healthy'. Two lots for high blood pressure, which is all over the place at the moment(!), anti-histamine, anti-depressant and something for my overactive bladder.

 

I'm think crystals are a positive force. How? Not really sure but they've been good for me. Regular heavy-duty massage for my neck/spine because of scoliosis. I quite fancy taking up Pilates, which is a fantastic thing. Working in a dance environment I was introduced to it donkeys years ago and, with hindsight, wish I'd pursued it.

 

Having been in a really rather horrible dark place with clinical depression my self care has left a lot to be desired. I don't think anyone has ever sat next to me and thought "She smells", but daily ablutions really didn't figure in my day, (not very much did), and even now it is something I have to consciously think about as opposed to doing it on 'auto-pilot', if that makes sense.

 

Even now it is a struggle to clean my teeth even daily, let alone twice a day! Thank goodness I have strong teeth and a caring dentist!

 

 

My garden has quite seriously been a life-saver and I would say grow something, wherever you live. The garden isn't very big but I cram a lot in and the excitement when, like today, my broad beans began to show...WOW!!

Then you get the good thing of eating fresh produce, which really is just the best.

 

And there's the thing - just do the best that you can do.

YOU deserve it!

A Grin Without A Cat

Managed to bite down so hard on my bite guard on Saturday night that I broke a piece off it! Which then entailed another visit to the dentist.

The original one was made by the Max-Fac dept at the hospital; but having phoned them they said to contact my own dentist.

I have no idea what flavour the crisps were...other than disgusting!

 It was so much more fun going with Mr B.

 Lunch at the Park Café.

He had plum tomato and basil soup...in a warm French bread roll and I had a Coronation chicken sarnie. Yummy!

She was buzzing around the pond where we see the 2 cats.

Only one this time...Marmite went into a rescue place as she was pregnant; after 24 hours labour she had 6 kittens, which sadly all died.

(Yes, I cried!).

 'Cat' as he seems to be called, (who's not the father, as he's been 'done'), was rehomed to a house a couple of roads away; then escaped and made his way back to the park!! But there is someone lined up to take him when the office closes in September, who comes in at 7am every morning to feed him a sachet, just to build up some rapport, so hopefully that'll work out fine. And I am so pleased to report that his mange has practically cleared up and his legs are much better too. Didn't get a photo yesterday, as he got all comfy on my lap and then he shot off when he heard the office door being unlocked, which equalled FOOD!

Toothgate

Not sneering...just a numb mouth



Had my infected tooth out yesterday.

Ouch!

3 roots no kidding. Ouch!

 And 200+ quid down the drain on root canal treatment with it.

That hurts almost as much as the tooth!

 

Two lots of antibiotic have played absolute havoc with my insides which the GP said could take up to six weeks to settle down.
She also suggested that I try those live bacteria yogurt thingies. When I nearly vomited down the phone she said they were also available as a tablet. So I 'treated' myself to a pack of "Biotic Balance Ultimate Flora" by Bioglan from Boots.

Not sure what it is doing but thank goodness my insides seem to be doing well much quicker than I could ever hope for.
Do you take any form of 'live bacteria' daily?
Any thoughts?

Anyway, our two little adopted fur babies were in the park. Hurrah!

No, Vix, it isn't Polly Piglet, but Marmite. The woman who owns her, (yes, she does have an owner!), likes her, her husband doesn't.

The same woman has 'adopted' the other one which she said was a stray, but she doesn't feed her??

(No, I don't understand either)

 Thank goodness for the lovely lady who opens the Box Office in the park; we had a great natter with her. It was her who told us about their 'home'; she had brought in food for them, as did we.

 

Yes, we took a box of cat kibbles to the dentist. Are we mad??

Fur & Feather & Tooth

A visit to this park can only mean one thing...another visit to the dentist. Pain in the palate and the tooth that had root canal work done 2 years ago!

Aaargh!

 

Seems there is an infection, (huzzah for antibiotics), and apparently I will have to have the whole thing drilled out, packed to clear any other 'yucky stuff' and then have to go to Wellingborough to see a 'specialist' who has the know how and equipment to see what's going on in high definition, so to speak. (About 15 times actual size). The 3(!) roots I have in this tooth have weeny little branches, almost invisible on a regular X-ray and this is where the infection is.

 

 

To say I am a bit apprehensive is a slight understatement. Not so much the work itself but the fact I have to Wellingborough, (never been), and a different dental surgery. But what is weird, is that the dentist was the original chap I saw here in Northampton, who has gone on to specialise. I went to him as he did call outs and when my mum was housebound he came to see her. At the time, I wasn't registered with a dentist, so it seemed a good move to go with him. I only saw him about once before he left and have been with Mr Q ever since.

 

I am beginning to think I should have a dental chair with my name on a brass plaque on, like at the theatre, I feel as though I have taken 'root' there!

This is what I wore on my footsies for yet another dental visit today!  This was my annual 'check up' and hygienist appointment. Clean bill of health but a filling needs re-doing.

Lunch in the park again. Yay!

 

 

Varnish colour achieved with one coat of yellow, Brick Road by Leighton Denny followed by 2 coats of Limoncello by Borghese. This looks such a wonderful colour in the bottle, but when it dries on the nail it is a very watered down version, which is a shame, because who wants to bother with a base coat, top coat and 3 coats of colour? Mih!

Spanish Week @ Pennyblossoms

Here we have another video from Mr B. Again, as with the swifty-swallows yesterday, this was filmed about 7 o'clock in the morning, after the crew had worked through the night!

I was a busy ZoZo today; had my hair cut at lunchtime, met Mr B for lunch, (he's on his summer break), and then had my Support Worker come and visit. Phew!

Off to Brum tomorrow, to see the osteopath. I missed an appointment cos' I couldn't get there and had to cancel a couple of appointments due to root canal tooth treatment, so am in dire need of a crunch! Mind you, Andrew specialises in Cranial Osteopathy, which is much gentler.

Still haven't download my photos from the Vintage Garden Party. I do believe that dear Margaret is probably still waiting to see her photo up 'in lights', so to speak. So...
