Show Them Your Cross

I tried to find The Vicar of Dibley joke on Youtube, but had no joy.

As mentioned in my previous post, this is the French crucifix that I bought at the Vintage Fair, along with a 'Souvenir de Paris' scarf.

I am intrigued about the skull on it.
Does anyone know why?

Gosh, the weather since we came home has been tremendous, so I 've been a busy bee in the garden. Seeds, re-potting plants and actually planting the rose bushes which I bought in February and just heeled in for the last 2 months. Still, they look okay and are throwing out new shoots, so hopefully there'll be lots of lovely smelling flowers later in the year.

Summer...bring it on!!

To The Light Of My Life

A little Valentines' vignette or two.

The 2 pale blue hearts are made by Sharon at Shabby Polka Dots; the Union Jack one by Suzanne Heartsnkisses. The others are from Homesense ages ago.

The Christmas roses stay out to do a turn on the 14th February.
Note my 'Paris' wallpaper.
How very romantic!

Oh Mr B, I do love thee!!

What I Bought (not a lot!) & What I Wore

Other than my favourite homemade meringue and coffee I managed to restrain myself and just bought this great collection of knitting needles and bits.

Those pretty green needles are exactly the right size for my sock knitting. Having decided the 'what'll hold a lot will hold a little' idea really doesn't work for knitting needles (the phrase of being poked in the eye with a big stick comes to mind!) I am sure am chuffed to have got these; and just as I go from knitting on 4 needles to 3 too. (Which, if you don't knit really means you need 5 or 4 needles ie. your knitting is spaced over however x needles but you actually need an extra one to knit with!!

I bought this wear-around-your-neck magnifying glass from Hobbycraft, when down in Plymouth, as even with/without my glasses I am finding it increasingly hard to see the stitches. I haven't used it yet but it has 2 LED lights as well, so should work a treat! I take embroidery away with me but couldn't even suss out what I'd done next to the pattern, so gave up on it!!

And this is what I wore.

My baby scorpion earrings were a gift from one of Mr Bs' work colleagues a couple of Christmases ago. Never worn them; they were just waiting for me to get the Gudren cardi I think.  The 'fur' stole was a sale buy from Dotty Ps from a while ago.

See, this 'if-you-don't-wear-it-for-a-year' rule really doesn't work. If you buy it cos you love it, wear it a bit, don't wear it for a long time then bring it out again, sometimes those 'bits' just really come together. These items weren't bought separately with the idea of wearing them together; but somehow my eye just alights on things that 'go'.

(And please ignore the 'walker', ironing board and other assorted paraphernalia in the background. Hastily shot photos in the one bit of space I could find!)

Saturday Diary Date

Looking forward to this tomorrow.
One of Trevors' specials and on my doorstep more or less.
Lucky me!
I stopped halfway through writing this as the village pub was having a firework display that I had forgotten about, otherwise I'd have wandered down there.

I think The Saints Rugby Club also had their display too, because I could also see a whole stack of rockets going off down the end of the road!
A proper couple of displays literally viewable right from my front door.
Pretty darn good, I'd say!

Lucky me again!

Hope you all have a lucky weekend too!

Travelling In Style

Tomorrow Mr B and I will be travelling in style.

A vintage bus to the Vintage Fair!

The old buses are run over the weekend as part of the Heritage Open Days, which is held across the country; lots of places not usually open to the general public are opened specially.

 *****

Been rather 'bleurgh' recently.

But, on a plus point, I got to Birmingham, on my own, to see an osteopath who has worked with me before when doing his final training. That last visit was 2 years ago I guess, and now Geoff has his own practice!

The top cervical bones are a bit 'dodgy', for want of a better term, and it is this that caused my 'migranes'. They are if fact 'cervicogenic headaches'. But whatever name they are given, I wouldn't wish it on any one!

I have wallpapered the third wall in the front room! (2 years and counting, possibly?). Just who thought it'd be a good idea to put the central heating water pipes along the top of the wall???
Arrrgh!
Just the wall with a door, pipework and a window to paper around left!!
But it'll look lovely when it's finished!

Whatever you are doing this weekend - have a good 'un!

Vintage-styled Window Sill

Now that the weather seems to be settled on 'warm', (with occasional  thunder and lightning!), it seemed a good time to put the plants from the loo window sill out in the garden.

But what to put there instead?

Two ironwork covered bottles and a whatever the pinky one in the middle is.
Oh, and not forgetting the vintage French wooden birdcage, with all its' original glass feeding bowls.

I've 'borrowed' this photo from Cherry Anne Merriman.
I've 'borrowed' this photo from Cherry Anne Merriman.
I got the glassware last summer from Twinset & Pearls, Joan and Jane, I think their names are??? Sorry, forgotten; but always a joy to see these two lovely ladies.

Trevor, who organises the Vintage in the Shires Fairs and Briony, May 2012
The birdcage came from Briony at the Fair the other Saturday.
Couldn't believe this picture that came with an e-mail from Jonny Loulou...one of the very same style bottles!
Never been aware of seeing them before and now they're 'trending' at JL.
Hark at my trendy interior design!!

A Vintage Kinda Gal

Saturday was the Vintage Fair at St Matthews.
Lots of goodies bought, (that need photographing), friends caught up with and new ones made.
Sadly my 'twinnie' has a chest infection and wasn't able to make it but we've sent each other best wishes via Trevor!
At last, the perfect weather to wear my 'new' vintage Burberry that Mr B brought me from Scout in Sunderland.

https://www.facebook.com/scoutfashion?fref=nf
as we call it, The Burberry Museum
Cannot believe that one was ever made large enough to fit me! The most brilliant thing for me is that, what some people would hate, the shorter sleeve, is the perfect 'bracelet length' for me and saves me having to roll back my sleeves, which I do with most of my jackets.
The yellow brolly I bought at TK Maxx, for a fiver, ages ago.

My wonderful vintage poker print scarf was a giveaway win from Char, again, ages ago!
Isn't it fabulous?
My tiny little yellow flower head earrings I bought when I was a student, so that must make them even older than vintage!
http://www.random-makes.co.uk/index.htm
The amazing 'H' the old Citroen van was a newcomer to the Fair and Mr B bought me the most apt gift from them...a cushion made from a vintage Bognor Regis and surrounding views T-towel. BR basically runs through my veins. I will do a post on that as an individual 'thing' as most of the views I have photographs of that I have taken in the past.

A large part of my life on a cushion, you could say.

Obligatory windswept hair shot

Just to remind me to get a trim and some new highlights done!

#BEDM rather fell by the wayside; just got totally disillusioned with posting anything last week.

Today I...

Today I was going to go to the Fair and my local butchers' and greengrocers'.
But I didn't.

Instead, I made our Christmas cake, which is cooking away as I type.

I wore my new Christmas Cats apron. I do believe that Santa has found a matching mug and coaster set; guess I know what I'll be drinking my festive hot drinks in!!!

Having popped the cake in the oven and done a mountain of washing up I had a sit down with a coffee and a couple of slices of this Weetabix cake, which I bought from the Village Fair last Saturday.
I was a tad unsure, I mean, Weetabix cake? But so pleased I took the plunge...it is totally yummy. A dense, filled with fruit tea loaf with no hint of the breakfast cereal.
I've been have a slice as my 'breakfast' each morning. A pretty good way to start the day!

Right, I'm off to have a gawp at my cake.
Have a great weekend!

Star!

Yes! I know!   I just can't help it!

(wearing my best Courtney Stodden impression T-shirt)
(I just loved that girl in Celebrity Big Brother)

My gorgeous 'star' brooch, found at the Vintage Fair today.
Isn't she a beaut?

The Italian Shop, (not café, as I previously wrote), where we had cups of coffee and scrummy ciabatta sarnies with fennel salami. I never thought I liked salami but theirs is delish!

More types of pasta than you can shake a stick at.
(And I don't even like pasta!)

Last Saturday I Filmed This. This Saturday I'm Going To The Vintage Fair (now with added 'boom arm')

Forever mentioned in  the likes of "Heat" and "New!" magazine, the vision that is Peter Andre visited Northampton last weekend to plug his 2 new fragrances.

I must admit, I am not a fan, but he did seem to be a genuinely nice guy; yes, there were a lot of screaming girls, but quite a few blokes ready to shake his hand too.

It was a total surprise, didn't know he was going to be there; and there I am in the thick of it all, 'boom arm' out with me camera, not batting an eyelid!
Whereas yesterday had to cancel my appointment with the nurse for a blood pressure re-check, 'cos I was I was getting into a bit of a state! (Yeah, bet that was good for the ole BP!)

Hurrah! Another of Trevor's Vintage Fairs and then a trip to the Italian Café.
Woop! Woop!
Here's to the weekend!

Ditsy Belle #23 - Fresh Fruit

Fruit in the garden.

About as fresh as you can get!

And no pesticides!

Bon appetit!

Tomorrows' title is 'Item'. Seeing as there is the Fair on, no doubt I'll be able to find an item or two!

Have a wonderful August Bank Holiday Weekend!

BEDM - Day 6, Bank Holiday Fun

Saturday was the day of the Fair. There were a couple of showers, which was a bit of a shame, although it didn't seem to dampen the spirits. This was the first time that there were stalls outside on  the lawn, which was really good.

We got a garden urn for work for Mr B, a couple of large garden pots for me and a basket that both the cats have tried out!

After a wander round, refreshments were needed. A sit down and a natter with Trevor's mum, Margaret was in order. Trevor organises the "Vintage in the Shires" fairs.

We are 'twinnies' -  our birthdays are the same date, although not the same year, it has to be said!!

Sunday we went into town and got a new little greenhouse, seeing as I've filled up the other one and still have packets of seeds still to sow.

Dragged out the lilac jeans, Guess bag and Babycham trainers and added a T-shirt that Mr B brought back for me from Jewish Mother Backstage in Norfolk, VA. It was brilliant fun when he was away as we managed to set up to Skype while he was away and our conversation on his birthday was when he was at this deli.

Back here, we went into this lovely café for lunch. It has the original shaped, glass frontage, which looks out over these wonderful black and white shop fronts.
We finished off the evening with a Chinese takeaway.

Today we didn't get to the Car Boot this morning. But I did get to put up the greenhouse and sort out a load of old flowerpots and stuff to chuck out. I've also started taking down the bower as the metal frame is knackered and the passionflower has died, so it just needs a complete re-think and overhaul.
It's still a bit too much of a mess to take photos, buy no doubt some will follow.

Mr B is off on tour again Wednesday, so I need to sort out the washing for him to take and clear the top of the piano, so we can move it along, (in front of the wall that I papered last week), when he gets home,  and then I can do the rest of the wall while he is away. So, that's Tuesday organised.

Have a good week!

Spanish Week @ Pennyblossoms

Hola! from Euroblossoms!

Here we have another video from Mr B. Again, as with the swifty-swallows yesterday, this was filmed about 7 o'clock in the morning, after the crew had worked through the night!

I was a busy ZoZo today; had my hair cut at lunchtime, met Mr B for lunch, (he's on his summer break), and then had my Support Worker come and visit. Phew!

Off to Brum tomorrow, to see the osteopath. I missed an appointment cos' I couldn't get there and had to cancel a couple of appointments due to root canal tooth treatment, so am in dire need of a crunch! Mind you, Andrew specialises in Cranial Osteopathy, which is much gentler.

Another meeting with the SW on Thursday, doctors appointment Friday and then THIS

Still haven't download my photos from the Vintage Garden Party. I do believe that dear Margaret is probably still waiting to see her photo up 'in lights', so to speak. So...

...looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!
