A Little Bit More Shopping

OMG

Converse x Missoni
I don't jump on the designer bandwagon often, if ever, really...but I fell in love with the photos I had seen of these before I came away.
So, that was that. Or so I thought.
Happened to see them in Office in the Arndale in MCR and then again today at the Trafford Centre. They actually had my size in both the dap and the hi-top, which is what I plumped for. Super Autumnal colours with just a hint of glimmer.

Missoni was the first ever proper perfume that I bought when I started earning up in London, so it has a 'thing' with my past!

Happy weekend!

A Little Bit O' Shopping

Well...come on, Manchester, a shopping Mecca!

A visit to Abakans, of course, for fabrics and notions.

Jaycotts
Having been given an overlocker just before we went away, I needed some stretchy fabric to use it on.
Tipped off by Char about Jaycotts, I ordered some half price Simplicity patterns. A cosy cammo sweatshirt-y fabric and a denim blue stretch with a very pale pink glittery sheen.

A whole host of goodies from TK Maxx and Homesense.

The yellow bag of Dreamies was a present for the cats from Kathy of Rockers. So kind! Got a couple of pressies for Mr B for Christmas from her shop on Oldham Street.

TK Maxx jewellery afforded me this lovely Bibi necklace and this beautiful hematite 'tusk' necklace.

Don't know the make but its' rrp was 195 quid!! It was in the sale and it was less than a tenth of that price.
I like hematite and I find it a very healing crystal.

And of course...shoes. By the end of Monday I had blisters on each of my little toes and my right heel.
Not the best start to the week.
Ouch!
(And that's with packing tried and tested footwear!)

An Afternoon At The Country Club

I've been, on the most part, walking over to our local fitness centre every month for the last 6 months to visit Judith, the sports therapist, with great success.

My ancient Pucca T-shirt. So old it's vintage. Probably.
But this was the first time Mr B had come along too! (The joy of him being on holiday).
Hence the 'photo shoot'.

The place used to be a private squash club, then it was leased by Fitness First and now it is back to being a family owned fitness club.

But as Mr B said, it has the air of being a secluded country club and reminded us of our big summer holidays at the end of the 80s when we would travel down to Newquay for the pro surfing championships.

Those were the days...we had a sportsman who was a world No 1, betcha didn't know that, did ya?

lots of love from a surfing legend...to me!
OMG, it's Martin Potter, World No 1 Surfing Pro!

Homemade sandwiches, the first cappucini from the new machine and table tennis.
What more could you want or need?

My lovely 'tat' bag from Rockers England (Manchester) had an outing.

And I wore sandals while I had the chance.
(Did you get the amazing thunderstorms last night/today?)

No country club theme would be complete without a link to the beautiful, talented and, alas, no longer with us
Billy MacKenzie.

Sorry it's the karaoke version but it was the one video that (a) had the sharp, cut off ending and (b) wasn't introduced by Jimmy Saville!
Still, it's a good song to sing along with.
(Unless you are my neighbour!!!!)

Holiday Kickback

New shoes!!!!
I first saw these in TK Maxx in Milton Keynes; just one lone pair in a size 6, that were too big!
The cheapest place I could track them down to was ASOS.
This was the first time I have ordered from them and they were brilliant!
The de Havilland order packers could learn a lesson from them on how to pack a box of shoes so they don't arrive in a battered box!

Celebrating Mr B being on his summer break by having drinks at Starbucks today.

Which is sort of my 'excuse' for not blogging or commenting.
But I have been reading your posts!

We went to Birmingham on Friday and saw this wicker jumping horse on a traffic island outside the Indoor Market.
Rather lovely isn't it?
Some of you may remember my 'Wicker Wednesday' posts?
(Here, here, the Wicker Wednesday Whicker Island post and some more Brummie wicker here, to give you a taster!)
Hope the links give you a giggle.

Don't Go Breaking My Heart

I've hankered after a pair of Terry de Havilland shoes since forever!

Having bitten the bullet, egged on by Pearls' post, I plumped for 'Jay', in the sale on the TdeH website and over 200 quid cheaper than Sarenza!!

(Start small I thought and then work up to the even more beautiful expensive 'Margaux').

Sadly, I don't think the cut of his jib suits my foot. Great round the heel-end and with lacing good over my foot. But where have my toes gone???

I know I'm not actually going to be wearing that much, I mean, look at that heel height, but I still want them to fit and not make me look as though the front end of my foot is deformed!

So, not this time, but, maybe, if I get to actually try some on before I buy, I may yet find the perfect pair.

Pretty blue nail varnish is Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Blueberry. My first Barry M nail varnish.
(Oh yes, I really know how to push the boat out!).
Thanks to Victoria extolling the virtues of their Gelly Hi-Shine Lips, I did a little recce on the Boots website and, when in the store, plumped for the 3 for 2 offer, and bought the lippie in Capella and the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Cool Medium 2.

After trying out the Boots No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation on her recommendation too and being totally impressed I think Florence & Mary is becoming my go-to beauty bible!!

FOTD or NOTD?

Foot of the Day?

Nail of the Day?

This is what I wore on my footsies for yet another dental visit today!  This was my annual 'check up' and hygienist appointment. Clean bill of health but a filling needs re-doing.
Lunch in the park again. Yay!

Varnish colour achieved with one coat of yellow, Brick Road by Leighton Denny followed by 2 coats of Limoncello by Borghese. This looks such a wonderful colour in the bottle, but when it dries on the nail it is a very watered down version, which is a shame, because who wants to bother with a base coat, top coat and 3 coats of colour? Mih!

Sandals and nail varnish from various past shopping sprees at TK Maxx.

Ditsy Belle #26 - Glitter/Sparkle

These two pairs of socks actually belong to Mr B!

A dedicated follower of fashion. Ha ha!

My 'not-worn-very-often' gold sequined baseball boots. So ancient I cannot remember where they came from???

Of course, I have to add a link to fellow Northamptonian and mega-blogger, Louise, from

We have met, (once!), and this is her post about it.

My very own 'Baby Glitter'. If you pop over to Lou's you'll understand! Get those diamante knickers. Eat your heart out, Carrie Bradshaw!

"Oh my God! She's fashion roadkill!"
Great script. Great music.
The designer of her 'pants', William Ivey Long, also designed costumes for the show that Mr B worked on when it first opened in London, "Chicago".
